Originally, Librarian Reserve Corps volunteers responded to the information needs of the World Health Organization’s Global Outbreak Alert & Response Network - Research Division during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their advanced library and information skills contributed to the prevention and control of disease outbreaks and other public health emergencies by providing responders with the latest information relevant to their mission areas.
Over time the Librarian Reserve Corps has transitioned to support librarians and information professionals responding to public health emergencies of international concern with an evidence-base for their response.
At this stage in the pandemic, we are identifying next steps for the Librarian Reserve Corps. We are not taking on new projects and not accepting new volunteers at this time. We will post announcements about the future of LRC here, on our newsletter and via Twitter when more information is available.
Thank you for your interest in the Librarian Reserve Corps!
The Librarian Reserve Corps (LRC) stands in solidarity with our colleagues in Ukraine, condemns all violent actions, and joins the international community in their statements on the situation.
The LRC echoes the voices of the international Library community in that the need for access to accurate information not only supports democracy but saves lives. The LRC consists of librarians from all over the world, many of whom have asked how we can help our Ukrainian colleagues in this time of need to which the LRC response is this: we are here, and we are ready to assist and support the information needs of our Ukrainian colleagues and the Ukrainian Library Association to the best of our ability if so called upon.
We see you. We support you.
